Purpose of the project
Terra City is an environmental, humanitarian and multicultural project aiming to create an unprecedented synergy worldwide dedicated to building a better world on our planet. Its concept is based on the idea that in an era of global living the competition between individuals, companies and countries became obsolete, counter-productive and actually the main barrier for our progress. Instead of fighting each other for food, jobs, water, energy, resources or markets we can put together our knowledge, creativity and goodwill and concert our constructive efforts towards the common goal of flourishing our planet and enhancing the lives of all those living on it, and that will enable us to produce all of the above in abundance for all of us.
Terra City is launching an invitation to every country in the world to bring together their ideas, initiatives, solutions and projects in all domains of human activity - arts, health, education, agriculture, energy, environment, construction, communications, technology... as well as their specific difficulties, challenges and needs that have to be addressed in each part of the world such as famine, poverty, diseases, unemployment, insecurity, financial crisis, environmental abuse, violence, war and others...
Once we will all gain a comprehensive image of all of our world challenges and needs as well as the palette of solutions available at present time worldwide we will then decide together how we can best proceed to solve these problems in a concerted effort as we have never done before.
Each country will host exhibitions, concerts, forums, seminars, roundtables, workshops in all domains of human activity. Terra City will also create the International University of Terra City where professors, scientists, innovators, discoverers, thinkers, artists, writers, athletes and other outstanding human beings from all over the world will share the essence of their lives, study, work and passion with students of all ages worldwide.
All along Terra City will be dynamic and interactive in continuous communication with the entire world. Everything constructive, innovative and exciting happening somewhere in the world will have instantaneous exposure worldwide through Terra City; and every idea, solution or project emanating from the events and activities taking place in Terra City will be continuously shared worldwide. Everyone - every individual, community, company and country will be able to express their vision, participate according to their talents and interests and fully benefit from and enjoy the fruits of our common success. This way, Terra City will become a center of synergic creativity and implementation that will accelerate the research and application of valuable solutions in every domain everywhere in the world they are needed.
In doing so, Terra City will become a concrete step into a Human Era where abundance in everyone’s life, fulfillment of everyone’s dreams and enjoyment of every moment of being and feeling alive are the major objectives.
Description of the project
The Terra City project will be developed on a piece of land of approximately 1000 acres and will contain two parts: the ‘International' Village' and the ‘Hosting Village'.
The International Village will be located in the central part of the project on approximately 500 acres and will have a shape similar to the map of the world.
The entire infrastructure of the International Village will be designed and built according to the most advanced environmental concepts and energetic solutions known in the world today. Each country will be assigned a piece of land, called “Terra Country”, proportional in size with the real country and its population.
Each country will be invited to design their Terra Country in a concept, style and architecture that will represent the essence of their nation and build a building that will incorporate the most advanced green technologies and energy solutions known in each country today. This way, Terra City will be an environmental pilot village that will allow us all to see how our most advanced knowledge and vision for the future actually works and how they can be best implemented in different parts of the world.
Each country will present everything their nation has learned, discovered and created in every domain of human activity that has the potential to contribute to a better world and is worth sharing with the entire world. This broad “world-expo” part of Terra City along with the interactivity taking place within the seminars, roundtables, conferences and workshops will be the starting point of countless inter-national multi-disciplinary projects focused on the concerted research and effective application of our knowledge and technologies in solving actual problems in various parts of the world.
The Hosting Village will be located all around the International Village and will comprise hotels, motels, residential buildings, restaurants and stores that will offer the accommodation services to visitors coming from all over the world.
The Initiator of the project
Terra City has been initiated by the Montreal, Canada-based publishing company Human Wisdom through the Terra City book published in November 2002. (For total clarity, Human Wisdom and implicitly the Terra City project have absolutely no affiliation with any political, religious, sect or other similar organization anywhere in the world).
The Promoter
The Terra City project will be promoted, managed and administrated by a limited partnership Terra City Foundation Ltd. which will gather representatives of the main institutions involved in the development process: the hosting municipality, provincial and federal government, financial institutions, companies involved in the master planning and construction, utility companies, as well as representatives of all participating countries.
Location
The main criterion for the selection of the hosting country and municipality are as follows:
Size – the land will have a minimum of 1000 acres
Zoning
–
"white" with the possibility to be amended so to allow the necessary
constructions in the International Village and the Hosting Village
Proximity
– ideally
the land should be at a reasonable distance to a city and mostly to an
airport
Access
–
the land has to be accessible by provincial or municipal roads, or roads
that can be enlarged to allow access by buses and cars
Relief
–
the
relief
of the
land should allow the
construction
of the
infrastructure
of the
project
Water resources
–
the land has to have enough water resources to supply the entire project
Hosting municipality / province
–
the people and the officials of the hosting municipality and province will
need to demonstrate the open-mindedness, goodwill and hospitality necessary
to host a project of this size and significance.
Project Schedule
2009 Acquisition of the land, land surveying, design of the continents and countries on the land, launching the Terra City Creativity Prizes, sending the official invitations to all countries of the world
2010 Commencement of the infrastructure, revision of the construction plans for each Terra Country, international exhibitions and concerts with the laureates of the Terra City Creativity Prizes, sale of land subdivisions in the Hosting Village which will provide funds for the infrastructure and other costs
2011 Commencement of the construction of the buildings in each Terra Country and of the International University of Terra City
2012 Official opening of Terra City, commencement of the TC interactive events in each completed Terra Country, opening of the International University and initiation of the first inter-national sustainable projects worldwide.
Self-Financing
The Terra City project is being developed as a self-financed venture. A limited partnership is being created to promote, develop and administer the project and people from all over the world who resonate with this project will have the chance to invest in building a better world. The initial investment will be of approximately 5 million dollars, which will be allocated to the master plan design, infrastructure engineering, startup costs and a one million dollar fund for the Terra City Creativity Prizes.
The reimbursement of the initial investment with dividends and the funding of the infrastructure work will be provided by funds obtained from the sale of the land located in the Hosting Village. This land will be subdivided and offered for sale to companies in the tourism industry which will build the hotels, motels, restaurants, stores and other buildings to accommodate and service visitors coming from different parts of the world.
Given the nature and purpose of Terra City the financial part of this project will be completely transparent. The project account will be open to the public who will be able to verify at any time the revenue and expenses in the development process. This way everyone will rest assured that Terra City is not at all a commercial project but indeed a sustainable self-financed development project totally dedicated to its environmental, humanitarian and multicultural vocation.
